The dangers of ripped pants

Well, I'll never wear ripped knee pants to school again. I took a nice momentum filled fall and slid on my basically BARE knees on pavement today. Needless to say, I ended up with bloodied knees and pants and a handful of concerned office workers in my class building.

My friend Josh was awesome enough to get me Advil and a small first aid kit when I told him of my fiasco though so he's awesome :) I will never be wearing ripped knee pants again, I would have only had bruised knees if I had intact pants on!

Why poli?

So I'm sitting in International Politics and wondering when I will ever use this in life? With my luck, I'll end up in a job where economic growth in a third world country actually matters. Until then, I'd like to stay as far away from the word economics or economy as long as I can.

I spent the weekend in Davidson with my friend Elizabeth. During which time I played pokemon (Got the yellow forest!!), watched the new Doctor Who, and went to see Jersey Boys. While Jersey Boys wasn't my favorite musical ever, it was an interesting insight to what it might have been like for my father and grandparents growing up in New Jersey. The highlight of the show was when an actor was talking quietly on stage and Elizabeth made a huge crashing sound with her chair that the entire theatre turned to look at.

I have an interview with the Student Government today for two different cabinet positions. I'm sure I can only get one or the other if I get one at all. The positions I'm interviewing for are the Global University Committee Co-Chair and First Generation Students Co-Chair. Should be fun, wish me luck!

Cross-dress stress

So cross-dressing is stressful. It's not that it was hard to dress, shower, and smell like a guy, but I was worried about what someone might do to me if they were offended. I dunno, I guess I have a new appreciation for non-heterosexual couples and the fear they probably have to face on a daily basis. I couldn't do it, that's for sure!

In other news, nightly talks about pokemon only make me more of a nerd. I'm going to a friend's house this weekend and my first thought was "Yay, unrestricted internet access so I can get a mystery gift with my DS!!" I'm that awesome.

Nothing new and particularly nerdy other than that. Have a pokewalker with a goldeen in it with me during classes today but I can't seem to find anything but these stupid fish. So much for the supposed rare pokemon in this area!!

Pokewalk

So, I'm carrying around my pokewalker with my level 16 Growlithe in it today. I've found out there are plenty of people in my friend group who still play and remember pokemon! No one yet that I'm good friends with has made fun of my little pokeball that's reminiscent of a tamagotchi! Apparently I know how to pick the awesome friends :)

I have an assignment due in Gender and Society (WMST or SOCI 124) on Friday that's called the Norms Violation assignment. Basically I have to violate a societal gender norm and write a three page paper about the experience by Friday. It took me forever to figure out what I wanted to do. But, with a little help from my friends on a dog forum I frequent, I've figured it out!

I'm going to be gay for a day! Yes, I am a female and yes, my boyfriend is very straight. What I've thought up is that I will dress in men's clothing, hide my hair and try to pass for a boy then go out to public places with Justin and hold hands or perform other various forms of PDA and gauge the reaction I get from people around us. The hard parts are going to be getting Justin to cooperate and actually looking like a convincing boy. Alas, it will be an interesting experiment!

Oh Hai!

So.... I had a different blog but it died when the content was no longer pertinent to my life.

Here I am, a rather different person than I have been in the past and I decided to embrace my nerdiness. I recently came across the word adorkable and thought it somewhat applied to myself. I'm a nerd, definitely, but I'm also a somewhat girly young woman that is often classified as cute. So here I am.

What exactly makes me nerdy, you ask? I'll make it easy for you and make a list!
  • I still play Pokemon on my Nintento DS
  • I even carry around my pokewalker to keep leveling up my pokemon while I'm at class
  • I went to a high school with the words 'School of science and math' in the name
  • I'm in love with the 10th doctor from Doctor Who
  • I watch Doctor Who for fun on Netflix via an Xbox 360
  • I can and do game when I have the free time (Yay Dragon Age)
  • My favorite channel is Food Network
  • I know entirely too much about dogs, cats, and snakes
  • I have fun playing with Dragon Cave
  • I read for fun
There are many more things that make me nerdy, I'm sure, but those are what I can think of off the top of my head. Oh, and for some perspective, I'm a 20 year old, 5 foot tall, Junior at UNC-Chapel Hill. Well past the acceptable age of Pokemon!

I'm not sure what I'll be doing with this blog but it seemed like a good idea at the time so here you go!
